Ventilation outlet, hand-made ceramic tiles, metal

EVOL is an artist from Berlin who brings typical modernist post-soviet architecture into requisition in his artistic practice. EVOL creates miniature copies of multi-story residential buildings by using various city objects for this purpose, e.g., transformer booths or electric switchboards.

At the Zarya Factory, the artist turned a ventilation structure into a smaller model of a residential building and used hand-made ceramic tiles for it. One of the special qualities of EVOL's works is their resistance to spoilage attempts. EVOL considers that street artist tags, advertisements and dirt make his miniature buildings look even more realistic.

Over the past ten years, the artist has created miniature neighborhoods in dozens of cities around the world. You can find similar “houses” in Europe, the USA, Turkey, and Russia. Some of the artist’s works can still be found on the central streets of Vladivostok and around the Tokarevsky lighthouse.
